Here is a list of my speculations of the origins of Magnostadt (and Musta'sim) related names! There's no really confirmation for these, some are pretty obvious but others are more like guesses.

» Doron — From Greek δῶρον (doron), meaning "gift".
» Dunya Musta'sim — Dunya means "world" in Arabic and many other languages which have been influenced by Islam. In 1001 Nights, Scheherazad has a sister named Dunyazad. Al-Musta'sim was the last caliph of the Abbasid dynasty.
» Irene Smirnoff — From Greek Eirḗnē, “peace”.
» Isaac — From Hebrew Yiṣḥāq (יצחק‎), "he who laughs".
» Magnostadt — Stadt means city in German. Magno means "great" in many languages; therefore Magnostadt would be "Great city". However, as Magnostadt is often called the country of magicians in Magi, it's possible that the magno part was supposed to refer to magicians.
» Sphintus Khamen — Sphintus is a reference to the Sphinx. And indeed, it is Khamen, not Carmen. Khamen is a part that exists in the name of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen.
