Etymologies of Sindria names
Here is a list of my speculations of the origins of Sindria related names! There's no really confirmation for these, some are pretty obvious but others are more like guesses.
»
Drakon — Of course, it comes from "dragon". And his full name, Dragul Nol Henrius Govius Menudias Partenuvonomias Dumid Os Kartanon... yeah I'm not sure if I can unpack that...
»
Ja'far — Named after Jaʻfar ibn Yahya Barmaki, the Persian vizier of the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid.
»
Masrur — Named after Harun al-Rashid's swordsman in the 1001 Nights.
»
Pisti — "Pistis" is Greek for faith, Greek myhotlogy personification of good faith, trust and reliability.
»
Sahel — Arabic ساحل, meaning coast or shore.
»
Sharrkan Amun-Ra — Named after Sharrkan, a character from 1001 Nights. Technically the surname "Amun-Ra" is never used for Sharrkan, but it's used for his brother. It's a reference to the Ancient Egyptian god Amun-Ra, when the god Amun was fused with the Sun god Ra.
»
Sinbad — Named after Sinbad the Sailor (السندباد البحري), a hero from Middle Eastern tales, also added to the 1001 Nights. The origin of his name is much debated; some suggestions include Persian سندباد, Sanskrit सिद्धपथ (siddhapatha, “path of the Blessed”), or somehow referring to Sindh or the Indus river.
»
Spartos Leoxses — Spartos is Ancient Greek for "rope", "cord".
»
Yamlikha — Indeed, it is Yamlikha, not Yamraiha. Named after Yamlikha from 1001 Nights, the Serpent Queen.
