Sinbad is the King of Sindria, who wishes to reach world peace through any means necessary.

» While Sinbad was of course inspired by Sinbad the Sailor from One Thousand and One Nights, he has features from another character as well. He is first introduced in Balbadd, accompanied by Ja'far and Masrur. One Thousand and One Nights character known as Al-Rashid, King of Baghdad, also travelled with his advisor Ja'far and the sword master Masrur. Regardless of this, Rashid is also the name of King of Balbadd, Alibaba's father. It seems that Al-Rashid's features got put onto both Sinbad and Rashid (even same features, as how Rashid disguised himself as Harun when meeting Sinbad for the first time). Masrur still carries a sword as a memory of this, but never uses it in the series.

» Speaking of Sinbad the Sailor, some of his stories made it into Magi. For example, once he got stuck on an island with no way out. He ends up flying out by grabbing onto a bird much like how Sinbad, Ja'far and Mystras made it out of the pit in Artemyra. These birds were the rukh birds of Arabic folklore. Rukh made it into Magi in a bit of a different form.
